Paper Planet
Game Jam game made using experimental AI software from Kaedim to create the 3D models. Game Jam Game created as part of the Commercial Games Studio module as part of my studies at UWE.
Like Gold Rush, this game was also completed in a 1 wee game jam my myself and 3 of my course-mates. The challenge with this game jam was to use a software from Kaedim which used deep learning to take a given image and create a 3D model. All of the models (except the ground and walls) used in the game were created by the Kaedim software which was still in a pre-release phase at the time we made the project so while we got to experience this exciting new software, we were also helping to train and test it. After playing with the software we thought that of the ‘useable’ models it created, they resembled paper mâché so Paper Planet was born. The game is a simple platformer similar to Mario in that you collect coins and defeat enemies by jumping on them on your way to the finish. Below is the playthrough video as well as some of the models used and the images they were generated from.
